HIP-CL Clarifying Masterbatch

The HIP-CL clarifying masterbatch is designed for general use and is used in the production of all polypropylene homopolymer parts that require transparency.

Isotactic homopolymer polypropylene has a semi-crystalline structure. The presence of this crystalline structure increases the hardness, as well as the mechanical, chemical and heat resistance properties of polypropylene.
Polypropylene crystallizes slowly and forms coarse crystals. These crystals generally form around natural polymer impurities (defects), which is called nucleation. Without the clarifying masterbatch HIP-CL5, the size of the polypropylene crystals during cooling becomes larger than the wavelength of visible light, causing light scattering and the polymer becoming opaque.

Using HIP-CL5 clarifying masterbatch increases polymer impurities and also increases the speed of crystallization throughout the polymer. As a result, the amount of crystals formed per unit volume increases and causes their size to decrease. Therefore, crystals with a size smaller than the wavelength of visible light are formed, which visible light passes through and causes the transparency of the polymer, which is shown in the figure below.

HIP-CL5 clarifier masterbatch contains 5% of clarifiers based on polypropylene grade V30S. This masterbatch is designed for general use and is used in the production of all polypropylene homopolymer parts that require transparency.
